“We had the best day of our trip on Budaya tours East Coast tour. The scenery on the drive was awesome and we snorkeled on the most beautiful coral reefs and wrecks from the second world war. The stop at a secret beach and the water palace were delightful and Subur, our guide made this day the highlight of our trip.”
Join us and discover the cultural splendors and rugged beauty of the East Coast of Bali and snorkel or dive (optional) on an American and a Japanese wreck from World War 2 and colorful coral reef teeming with tropical fish. Traveling along the East Coast road to Tulamben and Ahmed in the far North East Corner of Bali we encounter some of the most stunning scenery on this beautiful island brilliant rice paddy terraces, rugged coastal views, small fishing villages lined with colorful outrigger canoes, traditional village life and the best views of the holy volcano, Mt. Agung and the central mountains. (A photographers dream).
Arriving at our destination after an early start and a quick visit to the sacred Bat Temple we snorkel (dive) on the wreck of the US Liberty, a large vessel torpedoed by the Japanese during WW II. The wreck is in relatively good condition, is located some 40 metres from the shore and is one of the best and safest wreck dives to be found anywhere in the world. The marine life around the wreck is amazing and large schools of fish swarm in it’s vicinity.
For those who do not wish to snorkel/dive they can relax on this brilliant coastline.

After the snorkel/dive we lunch in a restaurant in Ahmed where we feast on fresh local fish (cooked in a variety of ways) and local vegetable dishes. (Chicken is available as a substitute and we can cater to vegetarians).
After lunch we drive along this stunning coastline to Ahmed where we snorkel on a Japanese PT boat sunk after a being hit by a Dutch naval craft during the invasion of Bali during WW II. Sitting in shallow water, very close to the shore, on the edge of a colorful and healthy coral reef teeming with tropical fish, this wreck is accessible to those who have never snorkeled before or cannot swim, as we supply life jackets (flotation devices if needed). It is a must for even the most experienced - harboring a wide variety of corals and tropical fish.
For those who do not wish to snorkel there is a nearby restaurant where you can sit in the shade or sunbathe on the beach

Following lunch we visit a large and stunning water palace built in by the Rajah of Karangasem in 1906. Having a fancy for fountains, statues and large pools, besides the pools of the water palace, he built two full size swimming pools fed by a clean, fresh water spring, where you can relax swim and sunbathe after exploring the water palace. We also visit the walled and traditional Bali Aga village of Tenganan, where we discover their unique buildings, culture and witness the weaving of traditional dyed gringseng cloth and lontar palm writings.
